Director / Production Lead

ACE Union has a strong consumer base across Central Europe, Australia and Canada but was relatively unknown in the UK where Financial management products have traditionally been the mainstay of large heritage brands. With the success of disruptor brands such as Monzo and Revolut however, ACE wanted to launch their product in the UK market aimed at a similarly youthful and tech-savvy audience.

The aim was to generate awareness around their new product launch with an engaging teaser video that highlighted the products USP’s and enhanced the brands reputation amongst the target audience.

The Concept

Create a feeling within the audience that this brand is intelligent, innovative and secure - and that their product is legitimate, high quality and trustworthy.

An engaging and high-quality product reveal that builds confidence in ACE Union. Helping raise the brand to a position of legitimacy and trust, and generates awareness around their new product.

Production


Initially the client wanted a live action video, but they had some specific ideas for the production that would prove too costly. As director I was able to guide the brand towards a more viable solution using After Effects and Element 3D. This enabled us to tell the brand story with full creative freedom, allowing us to bring the clients idea to life with shots that simply wouldn’t have been possible to capture in-camera.

  • Storyboarding each of the shot sequences

  • Collaborating with the 3D artist to create usable product .obj’s

  • Styling was heavily influenced by tech brands such as Apple and Samsung to help reinforce those feelings of innovation, legitimacy and quality

  • Music was chosen for it’s electro elements and Hip Hop beat designed to help connect with the target audience and support the idea this is innovative technology.

The Outcome

The finished sequence was designed to give the product identity and personality. The hero, it emerges from darkness into the light, something you can trust to help you to take control of your finances. These connotations combined with the cinematic production value build confidence in ACE Union and infer trust in their products. All of which relates back to their mission to empower their customers to have more control of their money.
